Remembrance Sunday is 8 November. Bromsgrove's parade left Argos at 10.30am last year for the Crown Close memorial; 2026 times are due in late October.
Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. Bromsgrove’s parade and service go ahead every year, organised by the Bromsgrove branch of the Royal British Legion. The 2026 timings are not published yet. Last year’s were announced on 29 October, so expect this year’s at the end of October. We will update this page when they appear.
Until then, last year’s timetable is the best guide. On Sunday 9 November 2025 the parade stepped off from outside Argos on the High Street at 10.30am, and the two minutes’ silence was held at 11am at the war memorial on Crown Close.
Is it on this year?
Yes, in the sense that it happens every year, but no detail is confirmed. As at 4 October:
- The Royal British Legion branch has no website of its own. Its arrangements are normally published through the Bromsgrove Standard, which ran the 2025 details on 29 October 2025.
- Bromsgrove has no town council: the town is unparished. That means no council page carries the route, unlike in most towns.
- Bromsgrove District Council publishes the road closures for the village parades as PDF maps. A search of its site on 4 October turned up only the 2025 set.
What happened in 2025: the town parade
All of this is from the Royal British Legion’s arrangements as reported by the Bromsgrove Standard on 29 October 2025. Treat it as a guide to 2026, not a confirmed plan.
| Time (2025) | What |
|---|---|
| 10am | Organisations muster outside Argos, High Street |
| 10.30am | Parade steps off along the High Street |
| 10.50am | Service begins at the war memorial, Crown Close |
| 11am | Act of Remembrance and two minutes’ silence, then wreath-laying |
| about 11.20am | Service ends |
| 11.45am | Short service starting at St John’s Church |
- The route. The parade went along the High Street. At the Odd Fellows Memorial, above the EE shop, an “eyes left” was given and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire took the salute. The parade then turned into Church Street and crossed Market Street, with stewards, to the monument on Crown Close.
- The 11.45am service. A prayer, then two wreaths. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant laid one at the First World War memorial and the Bromsgrove Royal British Legion President laid one at the Boer War Memorial. Town Crier Kevin Ward read a poem and the service ended with a blessing.
- If it rains. The service may move inside St John’s Church.
- Afterwards. The parade dispersed and everyone was invited to the Artrix for light refreshments.
- Toilets were at Amphlett Hall.
Groups that want to march or lay a wreath contact the branch chairman, Jeff Evans. The Standard printed his contact details with last year’s arrangements.
The memorial itself is a Portland stone wheel cross, unveiled in June 2013. It commemorates all members of the armed forces in every conflict, according to its War Memorials Online record.
The village parades: last year’s road closures
Bromsgrove District Council published temporary road closure maps for three village parades on Sunday 9 November 2025. These are the council’s own documents:
| Village | Roads closed (2025) | Closure times (2025) | Council map |
|---|---|---|---|
| Catshill | Stourbridge Road and part of Meadow Road | 10.30am to 11.30am | |
| Wythall village | Rolling closure along the parade route, 10.45am to 11.15am | 10.30am to 12 noon | |
| Rubery | Roads around New Road (see the map) | 10am to 11.45am |
The closure window is longer than the parade itself, so it is a fair guide to when each village service runs. In 2025 the maps were drawn in September and October, which is why we expect the 2026 set in the second half of October.
For the town centre, the Standard reported closures on Market Street for the parade and service. No council PDF for the town parade turned up in 2025.
Getting there and parking
- Sunday charges apply. Every council car park in Bromsgrove charges 8am to 6pm on Sundays, with the first 30 minutes free. A morning at the parade will need a ticket. Tariffs and car parks are on our parking in Bromsgrove page.
- Market Street closes for the parade and service, so do not plan to drive through the bottom of the town between about 10am and 12 noon.
- The A38 works and any weekend closures are on our Bromsgrove roadworks and travel page, which we update weekly.
Armistice Day
Armistice Day, 11 November, falls on a Wednesday in 2026. No public Bromsgrove event for it has been published. Schools and some workplaces hold their own silence at 11am.
What we will add
When the Royal British Legion’s 2026 arrangements and the council’s closure maps appear, we will add the confirmed times, the route and any change of venue to the top of this page.
