Every council car park gives 30 minutes free, but you still need a ticket. Charges run 8am to 6pm on Sundays and bank holidays, and one shuts in September.
The single most useful fact about parking in Bromsgrove is on the council’s tariff table but not in any headline: every council car park in the town gives you 30 minutes free.
The catch is in the same cell. You still have to get a ticket from the machine and display it, even though you are paying nothing. No ticket, no free half hour, and the enforcement is contracted out to Wychavon District Council.
The second thing worth knowing is when charges apply. It is 8am to 6pm on all days, including Sundays and bank holidays, in every council car park in Bromsgrove. There is no free Sunday here.

Recreation Road South is the odd one out on price. It matches the £1 to £3 short-stay rates, then charges £8 for up to six hours and £11 for up to ten, nearly double what the other long-stay car parks ask for the same day. If you are staying past three hours, North Bromsgrove, School Drive, Parkside, New Road or Stourbridge Road are £6.
Height limits are 2.1 metres almost everywhere. St John Street allows 2.4 metres, and New Road and Parkside Offices have no restriction.
All of them take cash, card or the MiPermit app. Parkside has free motorcycle parking in a marked area, and North Bromsgrove has 10 motorcycle spaces.
Stourbridge Road closes on 25 September
The tariff table above still lists Stourbridge Road, and the council’s page gives no warning. But the council has advertised an order taking its 71 spaces out of use from 25 September 2026.

Separately, work to extend the overflow car park at Sanders Park started on 17 August and is expected to take six to eight weeks. The council says it will add about 23 standard bays and 6 disabled bays. Expect disruption, a temporary one-way arrangement and construction traffic until roughly mid-October (council announcement, 29 July 2026).
Where to park free
Bromsgrove has one genuinely free council car park and one free window everywhere else.
- Aston Fields car park is free for three hours. It is the small car park near the railway station. You must take and display a ticket from the machine to use the free stay. An Aston Fields season ticket buys all day.
- 30 minutes free in every other council car park, ticket required.
- Blue badge holders park free in all council car parks, up to the maximum stay.
Permits and season tickets
Everything is virtual now and everything goes through MiPermit. There is no paper permit to display.
- Resident permits cost £40 each. Schemes cover South Crescent, Perry Lane, and Westbourne Terrace with 134 Worcester Road and Sanders Road, all in Bromsgrove, plus 9 and 11 St Kenelms Road in Romsley. The vehicle has to be registered at the property, there is a cap per household, and only one visitor permit per property.
- Season tickets are £320 a year or £80 a quarter. They are valid at North Bromsgrove, School Drive, New Road, Parkside and Stourbridge Road. The Aston Fields season ticket is the same price.

Blue badge parking
Free in every council car park, up to that car park’s maximum stay. Two extra conditions apply and both cost people tickets:
- In Windsor Street and St John Street you must set the blue badge clock to your arrival time. Those are the two three-hour car parks.
- A penalty can still be issued for not parking inside a marked bay, and a blue badge does not let you use yellow lines painted inside a car park or a designated motorcycle bay.
On street, a blue badge allows up to three hours on single and double yellow lines, with the badge and clock displayed, but not where there are double kerb markings. Badges are issued by Worcestershire County Council, not the district.
Station parking
Bromsgrove station’s car park is not the council’s. The district’s own page says so explicitly, and attributes it to Transport for West Midlands. National Rail lists the operator as Excel Parking Services Ltd.
- 350 spaces, 17 of them accessible. Open 24 hours, seven days, with CCTV.
- £3 a day. £1.50 on Saturday and £1.50 on Sunday.
- £11 a week, £40 a month, £360 a year.
- Free for blue badge holders parked in the disabled bays.
- 4 EV charging bays, all in standard spaces rather than accessible ones. 8 cycle spaces.

At £3 a day it undercuts every council long-stay car park in the town, which is worth knowing if you are working near the station rather than catching a train.
Fines
Penalty charge notices are issued at two levels, and both halve if you pay within 14 days.
- £70, or £35 within 14 days: parking in a restricted street during prescribed hours, loading where restrictions apply, parking in a permit space without a permit, in a suspended bay, in a loading place without loading, in a bay not meant for your class of vehicle, or more than 50cm from the kerb.
- £50, or £25 within 14 days: parking in a resident’s space without a resident’s permit, not parking correctly within the bay markings, or re-parking in the same place within an hour of leaving.
Pay or challenge online through the council’s parking fines page, or by automated phone line on 0300 456 0525. Allow 24 hours after issue before paying, and a PCN issued over a weekend may not be payable until 5pm on the Monday.
